Proportional:
All 120 members of the Sobranie are elected by party list proportional system, using closed lists for four-year terms. The country is divided into six election districts determined by law. Each district elects 20 members of parliament. Each voter votes for a list and seats are distributed on a proportional basis, according to the D'Hondt formula.
At least 30 per cent of the candidates on each list must be of different gender.
Vacancies arising between general elections are filled through the "next-in-line" candidates of the same party.
Voting is not compulsory. |

| Candidacy requirements |
- nomination by registered political parties, individually or two or more parties, which can jointly submit a party list of candidates
- nomination by a group of voters: at least 500 signatures of the voters of the constituency concerned, registered in the General Voters Register are required
- submission of candidatures at least 40 days prior to polling |
