The seminar is organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union in cooperation with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and will take place on 20 October 2011 at BERNEXPO, in Bern, Switzerland. It primarily targets members of parliaments of those States parties to the Convention whose reports were considered by the CEDAW Committee during the course of 2011 and or will be considered at the beginning of 2012.
This year, the seminar will focus on the theme “Equality at Work”. Specific attention will be given to discrimination against women in employment, equal pay and to combating exploitation, abuse and violence in the workplace. Several experts, including a member of the Committee, a representative from the ILO and members of parliament with experience in this field, will facilitate the seminar. |
