The Least Developed Countries, 46 in total, are home to 40% of the world’s poor and remain far behind the rest of the world in terms of human development and economic prospects. Only a handful of countries have graduated from the LDC category over the past twelve years. Today’s concurrent food, energy and financial crises are obstructing further their development path.

On 4 March, 2023, the Qatari Shura Council and the IPU will host a Parliamentary Forum at the LDC5.

The Parliamentary Forum will help to galvanize parliaments in support of a new 10-year Programme of Action that the UN General Assembly adopted in March 2022.

All members of parliament attending the LDC5 as part of their national delegations are encouraged to participate in the Parliamentary Forum.

NOTE:

Parliamentarians interested in participating in the LDC5 need to coordinate with their national delegations to the conference.

Host country funding to support one MP from each LDC is available through the national delegation.
