Through the organization of conferences, meetings and workshops, we bring together young men and women parliamentarians from around the world. IPU events provide networking and capacity-building opportunities for young MPs at global, regional and national levels. Young MPs meet regularly, work together, devise youth-led solutions and foster their influence over global affairs.
IPU Forum of Young Parliamentarians
Meeting twice a year at IPU Assemblies, IPU Forum of Young Parliamentarians is the only body of its kind that gathers young parliamentarians from around the world to monitor and promote youth participation, create greater visibility to young people in politics, and put youth issues on the parliamentary radar. With a geographically diverse and gender balanced composition, it is the voice of the world’s young parliamentarians.
Conferences and meetings
Since 2014, we have been organizing an annual global conference of young parliamentarians. The event brings together about 200 young men and women parliamentarians, international organizations, youth associations and civil society to build solidarity, networks, and promote a youth-coordinated approach to international issues. The success of global conferences has also spawned the development of regional and national meetings of young parliamentarians. These meetings and workshops offer capacity-building for young MPs, and are tailored to each region or country’s context.
In addition to organizing our own events, we also allow young parliamentarians to have a voice in international deliberations. The MPs from the Forum of Young Parliamentarians play leadership roles in youth-related events organized by partners such as the United Nations, which helps them to affirm their presence as key players in the international youth movement.
