Promoting child nutrition in Western and Central Africa

Inter-regional parliamentary seminar co-organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), with the collaboration of alive&thrive and the support of the National Assembly of Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), 27-29 June 2017

The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and UNICEF, in collaboration with alive&thrive and the support of the National Assembly of Burkina Faso, are co-organizing an inter-regional parliamentary seminar on Promoting child nutrition in Western and Central Africa. The seminar will be held from 27 to 29 June 2017 in Ouagadougou. It is aimed at enhancing the understanding of parliamentarians and parliamentary staff on issues related to malnutrition and stunting, including the damaging effects on countries’ economic development of the lack of measures to fight malnutrition. Emphasis will therefore be placed on the strategies and tools parliamentarians can leverage to scale up and strengthen nutrition programmes and policies.

The proceedings will be conducted in English and French.
