The term of the Advisory Council was extended by three years to 30 June 2013 by Emiri Decision No. 18 of 1 June 2010. The statutory number of members remains 35; no new members were appointed in 2010. As was the case in the previous legislatures, the current Advisory Council does not comprise any women. The newly appointed legislature held its first session on 9 November 2010 and re-elected Mr. Mohamed Bin Mubarak Al-Khulaifi as its Speaker.
