Quick search	IPU COOPERATION WITH THE UNITED NATIONS     Statements, reports and resolutions Since 2002, when the IPU became a Permanent Observer in the United Nations General Assembly, IPU representatives have regularly addressed the sessions of the General Assembly and its subsidiary organs as well as major United Nations conferences and high-level events. By virtue of its unique character as the world organisation of national parliaments, the IPU also enjoys the right to distribute its official documents (i.e., resolutions and declarations) in the General Assembly, translated into the six official languages of the United Nations. This arrangement has opened new possibilities for the IPU to bring the views of parliaments directly to the attention of the United Nations community.
