Watch the video.

The overarching objectives of the SDG – eliminating poverty, fostering just societies, and securing the sustainability of the planet - are mostly off track. As the world is entering a most decisive Decade of Action, the time has come for a major evaluation of the policy response to the SDGs. The COVID-19 pandemic is at once a phenomenal challenge to the SDGs and an opportunity to rethink our approach on a much stronger foundation. The Big Reset: Learning from COVID-19 to fast track the SDGs, will look at the structural and systemic factors that may explain the SDGs’ mixed record.

As a public health measure, this year’s HLPF session will be either entirely online or restricted to New York-based diplomats only. The Parliamentary Forum that accompanies this major UN process will take place virtually on Wednesday,15 July, from 9 am to 10:30 am (New York time).

The Parliamentary Forum will be open to interested parliamentarians who are able to join the discussion online. Parliaments are invited to appoint a diverse delegation of up to three members which should include at least one woman as well as members of government and opposition parties. To keep the meeting manageable, a maximum of 300 participants will be allowed on a first come, first served basis.

For security reasons, registration details are being provided directly to member parliaments.
