The IPU and the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that aims to bridge the gap between the worlds of science and policy by facilitating exchanges between parliamentarians and the scientific community.

The MoU was signed by Professor Jean Tran Thanh Van, co-Founder and Director of ICISE and Mr. Martin Chungong, IPU Secretary General. Also present were Mrs. LE Thi Tuyet Mai, Permanent Representative of Viet Nam to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva and Mr. Denis Naughton, Chair of the IPU Working Group on Science and Technology.

The partnership is part of the IPU’s overall approach to ensure that scientific knowledge and expertise inform parliamentarians’ decision-making and policy-making.

The signature of the MoU took place during Science Diplomacy Week in which the IPU Secretary General is also the co-Chair.
