Jointly organized by the IPU and the National People’s Congress (NPC) of China, the 2025 Interregional Seminar on the Achievement of the SDGs will provide a select number of parliaments from developing countries with the opportunity to discuss ways to accelerate SDG implementation through parliamentary cooperation.
The seminar will allow the participants to proactively engage with one another on the SDGs, sharing their experiences, good practices and lessons learned. The programme of the event will cover the following topics: celebration of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, with a focus on multilateralism and global governance; inclusive AI governance; the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration to advance gender equality; and the importance of listening to the voice of the people to ensure that the implementation of the SDGs is inclusive and adapted to national contexts.
The event will be held from 28 August to 6 September 2025. It will take place in Beijing and will be followed by a field visit kindly organized by the NPC to other provinces and cities in China.
The seminar is open to the following parliaments: Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Barbados, Chad, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Gambia, Pakistan and Panama.
The languages of the event are English and Chinese.
