Adapting to climate change in mountain areas: What solutions work?

Summary

Mountains cover a quarter of the Earth’s land and provide essential resources like freshwater for billions of people, yet they are highly vulnerable to climate change.

Rising temperatures, melting glaciers, and changing weather patterns threaten drinking water supplies, ecosystems and livelihoods in these critical regions.

Join the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Adaptation at Altitude programme of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) on 20 February 2025, 14:00-15:00 CET, for a virtual round table exploring solutions to these challenges.

Parliamentarians and experts will share policies, good practices, and strategies to ensure mountain resilience. Simultaneous interpretation will be available in English and French.

Find out more about the IPU’s campaign Parliaments for the Planet designed to mobilize parliaments to act on the climate emergency.
