This Summit is a joint event organized by the IPU, the Global Campaign for Equal Nationality Rights, Equality Now, UNHCR and UN Women. It will bring together parliamentarians, government officials and representatives from civil society organizations from among the 24 countries where women lack the right to confer nationality on their children on an equal basis with men, and where there is ongoing interest in addressing this issue. It is intended to empower participants to work together to strategize, build partnerships and propose roadmaps towards enacting nationality law reforms to enshrine gender equality. A dedicated meeting exclusively for parliamentarians will be organized on 12 November 2024, at the IPU Headquarters, as a follow up to the discussions held during the Summit.
