How to legislate for UHC financing

Summary

14:00-15:30 CET

Universal health coverage (UHC) means that everyone should be able to access quality healthcare, without financial hardship. While many countries have made this objective a central part of their national health strategies and policies, progress towards UHC remains slow. To achieve UHC, a comprehensive and systematic approach is required.

The World Bank's Global Financing Facility, the World Health Organization and the Inter-Parliamentary Union are organizing a webinar to highlight the key attributes of the legislative process and to (re)position this process as a balancing act between technical, political, economic, contextual and legal considerations that requires specific parliamentary know-how.

Some of the questions at the heart of the webinar will be how to make use of national and international evidence, and how to ensure broad ownership among stakeholders and effective implementation. These questions will be discussed by a diverse panel of parliamentarians, lawyers and practitioners.

The webinar is designed to structure exchanges between countries and to foster dialogue between key players involved in the development, implementation and evaluation of legislative frameworks and health financing mechanisms.

The webinar will be held in French.
