Nearly every country in the world has some form of parliament. Parliamentary systems fall into two categories: bicameral and unicameral. Out of 190 national parliaments in the world, 78 are bicameral (156 chambers) and 112 are unicameral, making a total of 268 chambers of parliament with some 44,000 members of parliament. Overcoming the challenge of xenophobia together

The meeting is aimed at bringing together experts and diverse parliamentarians from all regions of the world to share insights, recommendations and lessons learned in tackling the rise in xenophobia and discrimination against migrants around the world. Participants will be able to share examples of good practices, lessons learned and recommendations to be reflected in the guidelines to be adopted jointly by the United Nations (UN) Committee for the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families (CMW) and the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD).
