Webinar series: IT governance and digital strategy for parliaments

From big data to the cloud, innovation trends are shaking up parliamentary business. And these trends have only been accelerated by the pandemic, which has seen an exponential growth of remote working and hybrid parliamentary proceedings. Senior parliamentary leaders must engage more than ever before in IT governance and digital strategy planning.

The IPU’s Centre for Innovation in Parliament (CIP) is therefore pleased to present its new webinar series - Transforming Parliaments. Aiming to share knowledge and experience, so that parliaments can learn from each other as they develop and navigate their digital transformations. The series will unpack key strategic issues such as:

  • Data – how do we make parliamentary data more accessible (see video)?
  • Governance – how do we measure parliamentary performance?
  • Hybrid meetings – what remote voting apps can be used? And how are they deployed?
  • Governance – what does digital strategy look like? And how do we build it?

Organised by CIP’s Open Data Hub and the IT Governance Hub, which are hosted by Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies and the European Parliament respectively, the webinar series is open to all parliaments. It is aimed at parliamentary staff, including key actors and decision makers involved with digital strategy planning. These include IT directors, Chief Information Officers, strategy planners, innovation officers, and heads of parliamentary information services, as well as other senior audiences, such as clerks/secretaries general and immediate planning advisers.

The events will take place via Zoom in October and November (see schedule below). Interpretation is provided in English, French and Spanish.
