Out of 190 national parliaments in the world, 78 are bicameral (156 chambers) and 112 are unicameral, making a total of 268 chambers of parliament with some 44,000 members of parliament. The IPU welcomes its 179 th member, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, bringing the IPU one step closer to universal membership. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines joined the IPU at its 140 th Assembly in Doha, Qatar, represented by the Speaker of the Parliament, Mr Thomas Sanga.
