Case studies for AI in parliaments

Use cases and case studies have been developed by parliaments for their own use and are shared here to help others to plan, develop and measure their AI implementation. A “use case” describes how a system should work, a “case study” is a description of how a real system or process has been implemented.

These case studies draw on the experiences of parliaments and chambers who have implemented AI projects, offering a practical, first-hand view of their adoption of AI. Applications range from amendment-grouping and plain-language bill summarization to legacy-system modernization, facial-recognition access control and generative AI assistants for legislative research.

The Use cases and Case studies are published by the IPU in partnership with the Parliamentary Data Science Hub in IPU’s Centre for Innovation in Parliament. For more information, please contact innovationatipu [dot] org (innovation[at]ipu[dot]org).
