Public engagement for universal health coverage

Summary

14:00 - 15:30 CET (Geneva)

Universal health coverage (UHC) means that all people have access to the health services they need, when and where they need them, without financial hardship. Participatory approaches to decision-making can help identify the barriers people face in accessing health services.

Building on the 2022 IPU-UNDP Global Parliamentary Report, this virtual workshop will discuss how parliaments can leverage public engagement as part of efforts towards UHC, and how legal frameworks can help promote inclusive participatory processes. The workshop is part of the process to follow up on the IPU resolution “Achieving universal health coverage by 2030: The role of parliaments in ensuring the right to health”.

It is open to all parliaments and will take place on the Zoom platform. The languages will be English, French and Spanish (simultaneous interpretation).
