Workshop aimed at members of committees or other parliamentary structures dealing with human rights, organized jointly by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

Ahead of the fourth cycle of the UPR, which begins in November 2022, and drawing on lessons learned during previous cycles, the workshop will make various proposals on how to take greater advantage of the contributions of the various stakeholders, including parliaments, to ensure more effective implementation of the recommendations of the UPR. The workshop will take place in hybrid format – in person and virtual – in order to allow wider participation. The workshop will include presentations, discussions and practical exercises (case studies and best practices) on the various topics under consideration.

Participants will mainly be parliamentarians from the Member States of the OIF, but also representatives of National Human Rights Institutions and civil society. Seventy-two (72) participants are expected from the parliaments of the following 18 countries: Andorra, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Egypt, Greece, Haiti, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Mauritania, Mauritius, Niger, Republic of Moldova, Rwanda, Sao Tomé and Principe, Seychelles, Togo and Vanuatu.
