Workshops for parliamentarians on AI- 1/3 A changing landscape: An overview of recent advances in artificial intelligence

Summary

15:00 (Geneva, CET)

When ChatGPT was launched in late 2022, the world changed. The development and deployment of large language models are rapidly changing how the world works and have generated a huge amount of public attention on artificial intelligence. However, the technical nature of the topic can present a knowledge gap for parliamentarians.

In this session, you will learn the basics of what artificial intelligence is, which new technologies are impacting the world, how they are developed and how they are deployed.

This session is part of the series of capacity-building Workshops for parliamentarians on AI, in preparation for the forthcoming IPU resolution on The impact of artificial intelligence on democracy, human rights and the rule of law.

Participation is open to all parliamentarians and parliamentary staff. No prior knowledge of AI is needed. Interpretation will be provided in English, French and Spanish.
