Statement on bomb attacks in Uganda

The IPU Executive Committee strongly condemns the terrorist attacks in Kampala near the Parliament on Tuesday 16 November 2021.

The IPU extends its condolences to those who have lost loved ones and wishes a fast recovery to the many injured.

Parliament should be a safe space for parliamentarians to carry out their work representing the people of Uganda, free from terror and violence.

The IPU stands in solidarity with Uganda at this difficult time and urges the authorities to ensure that Parliament can sit again as soon as it is safe to do so.

Every effort should be made by the authorities to find the perpetrators of this horrendous act and bring them to justice.
